Media Ministry

Media Ministries have become an integral part of today's worship services.  Sound amplification, lighting systems, hearing enhancement, and video clips and slides enable the pastor and music director to present an effective, memorable message to all worship attendees.  Delivering copies of recorded services also helps us bring God's Word to homebound members, snowbirds, and new neighbors.

Sound (Audio) Technician. This is a paid part-time position.  Our sound technician, Sharon Cooley, operates the sound board whenever there is an event in the sanctuary requiring microphones.  She supports all Sunday worship services, weekly choir rehearsals, funerals, weddings, and congregational meetings, as well as special services and rehearsals.  She is responsible for setting up the audio equipment, maintaining the hearing enhancement units, recording services on tape and CD, previewing the Sunday video slides, and training and scheduling the volunteer video operators.  She provides input to the Creative Worship Committee, on how the media ministry can help deliver God's message effectively.
Ron Hesketh has been added to the staff and provides support in the Fellowship Hall while Sharon continues to support the Sanctuary.

Video Operators. This valued group of volunteers have been having fun running our new video projection system, and are doing a great job each Sunday.  (Some of them have been long-time audio volunteers, and some are younger "computer wizards.") A new volunteer receives an hour of one-on-one training from Sharon, and can then operate the slides with an observer until he feels confident enough to work solo. Each Thursday, those who are scheduled to work on the coming Sunday are invited to stop by the sanctuary to preview the video schedule. These volunteers also assist Sharon with duplicating the audio tape and CD recordings after the 9:30 service. They work one worship service every 2-4 weeks, depending on how many operators are available for that service time.  More volunteers are needed, to cover all three Sunday services. Please call or talk to Sharon at the sound booth if you'd like to be involved in this exciting new ministry!

Program Developer. Our church administrator, Theresa Weber, has been creating the video program for each Sunday, including the weekly announcements shown before each service.  Her first big job was creating the video presentation for last July's "Music for Missions" concert, the first time our new system was seen by the congregation.  Theresa has utilized photos, movie clips, and graphics to create beautiful, memorable programs. Krissy Brown had now assumed the duties of creating the slides for the Sunday Services.
