Text Box: Vacation Bible School was quite an experience!
A large group of volunteers dedicated themselves to five days of really intense involvement, and the children loved it.
One little girl who is not a member of our church said happily as she left, “I love to come here! Your church is the most fun of any I’ve been to.”
They learned to listen to God, to obey Him, and to trust Him.
Psalm 19:7 says that the “testimony of the Lord . . . makes wise the simple.”
Well, in our Sunday School classes we are learning about that “testimony” of the Lord, and we are trusting that He is using that to make us—who are simple—wise!
This summer we have had unusually good enrollment in all classes, and many will testify to growing spiritually.
We’ve had classes for the children, and for those “mature in years,” but we haven’t had a class for “those in between.”
Well, in July we began that class, and it is flourishing! Martha and Ernie Dorrell lead the discussion, and I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm of those attending. I’m sure the welcome mat is out for any “in-betweens” who want to join.
We want to begin one more Sunday School class, for the young people who have graduated from high school, are either working or going to college, or have already found their place in the world of work.
Text Box: We have several who will fit into this category, and the first step to establishing the class is to find the teacher whom God is calling to teach this wonderful group. Are you that person? Let me know if God tugs at your heart about this.
We hope to have a Fall Festival for the whole church, with food, games, and fun for all ages.
We are beginning to plan for a puppet ministry for the children, and I am so excited about all the many doors that that can open for learning. We already have a little new friend whom you will meet in church soon.
We are planning a church-wide retreat February 24, 25, 26.
We feared that the speaker we really wanted would be so booked up that we couldn’t get him.
Well, God is good, and we were wrong! John Riley, from Alabama, has agreed to come. He has been mightily used of God in his ministry. You will hear much more about that during the year.
We will try again for a Spring Fair and hope that this year a hailstorm will not cause us to have to cancel.
