          There are probably many other questions that you have or that he knows must be answered, and he will be glad to entertain those in a question/answer time after his presentation.  
Text Box:           On a recent visitation someone asked many questions about law and medical needs that I had no answers for, and I promised to go and find the answers.  
          My quest took me to Thomas Slaymaker, attorney, who deals with these things all the time.
          Mr. Slaymaker has agreed to come to the church to present some information that may be helpful to all of us.  
Where do I go to find out must what benefits I have from Medicare as that coverage relates to extended care in a facility?  
Can I get home health if I am temporarily/permanently in need at home?
What do I do if my money runs out?
Will I lose my home if I must Text Box:      You’ve seen the advertisements for, and even received invitations to, free lunches or dinners and accompanying free advice on estate planning, asset protection, and tax reduction.  
Well, approach them cautiously—if at all.   The New York Times, on Sunday May 15, carried an article by Gretchen Morgenson, entitled Who’s Preying on Your Grand-parents?  (Get a copy at the church office). 
   The article cites stories of several retirees caught in this latest marketing scheme.  
     Law suits are pending in several states against groups of companies and individuals who, allegedly, tricked retirees into buying deferred annuities—with high commission fees and surrender Text Box: charges.  It’s worth reading!  And a good rule of thumb is:  “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!”
   On the other hand—if you are considering a Charitable Gift Annuity that will provide you with an attractive annual rate of income for the rest of your life and with the remainder going to your church (and possibly to other charitable institutions) at the time of your death, rest assured that there are no fees at all when the CGA is arranged through the Florida United Methodist Foundation.  
     Contact the church office or a member of the Permanent Endowment Committee for details.

          To the ladies of the UMW, the refreshments following the Memorial Service were very nice.
