The Monday morning group, though short handed, has trimmed all the hedges several times, as well as weeding every two weeks or so.

The clear coat to the sanctuary has been applied and those areas have been painted. There has been no further problems to date.

We have had several emergency calls due to storms where breakers tripped. Phone lines have also been disrupted.

Two of the air conditioners have had major problems and one may have to have one of the two compressors replaced though we are considering other options.

Chair edging was put in the two children’s classrooms.

One is also to receive some cork molding to hang children’s pictures from.

Shelving was installed in the pantry area, and a rain shut-off was replaced.

The last computer has been delivered and installed in the Administration office.

One of the thermo-pane windows in the Education Building was cracked and the Trustees are getting it repaired.

Building For Tomorrow

In the Spring, we held a series of three church-wide meetings to present information on our plans for phase 3 construction (phase 3 includes new fellowship hall, kitchen, youth center, thrift shop, classrooms, library), and to solicit comments and suggestions on the several options being considered at that time.  The opinions we received were very nearly unanimous -- build as soon as possible, and make the footprint of the new building as large as the site and our finances will allow.  The building committee has been proceeding in that direction.

We have a site engineer working to determine how we can re-configure our property to accommodate the expanded phase 3 plan within county regulations concerning the proportion of the site that can be impervious to water infiltration.   At the same time, the committee has been busy preparing design criteria to give the architect on the expanded plan so that he can begin drawings as soon as the site work is complete.

In addition, we have been preparing for the financial campaign this fall .   We need about $750,000 in pledges over the next three years if we are to move ahead with construction.    We have some special events planned for October to kick off the financial campaign.  In addition, look for a special issue of the Genesis Newsletter on the Building For Tomorrow program in early October.  It will contain complete details on our need for the new facilities, drawings and features of the new building, information on how we plan to finance it, and much more.   Phase 3 will be a huge undertaking  -  by far the biggest and most expensive building program to date.  We urge you to inform yourself about the plans, and pray that what we are doing will truly further God's mission for our church and community.

If the person who did so will please call me at 382-2646 I will be more than happy to return them.

Thank you,
